Examples of Collaborations
Education Partnership: Indonesia
Ministry of Education
In partnership with the Ministry of Education in West Sulawesi, IDTI provided a week-long lecture series for professors and secondary educators. The series included classroom management, how to improve teaching competency, and using evaluations as a guide for student improvement. During the week, lecture participants also had time to have small group settings discussions to present various projects to the other groups.
Specifically, IDTI focused on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). This is a concept popular in American education institutions. It distinguishes critical thinking skills from low-order learning outcomes, such as those attained by rote memorization. HOTS include synthesizing, analyzing, reasoning, comprehending, application, and evaluation.
In addition to the lectures, IDTI associates also connected with the agriculture department to investigate future possible projects that we could collaborate on.
Education Partnership: Vietnam
ICTU Partnership
In partnership with ICTU (University of Information & Technology) in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam, IDTI provided a 5-day pedagogical lecture series for professors and secondary educators. The series included topics such as classroom management, technology in the classroom, and using visuals in everyday teaching practices.
Outside of the lecture hall, IDTI, in conjunction with ICTU, provided opportunities to engage in English-speaking practice for all participants while providing IDTI participants opportunities to understand the local culture through visiting historical museums and sampling the local cuisine.
